We Have Band - Visionary

We have a new song! We Have Band (facebook/twitter) are officially back, and are preparing a brand-new album for release “in early 2012″. Exactly how early, they’re not saying, but I, for one, am hoping it’s January, because on the evidence of Visionary, it’s going to be just as good as, if not better than, their 2010 debut.

It’s arguably their most immediate song to date, which could mean one of two things: We Have Band could be moving in a (relatively) more accessible direction, or this could be a curveball. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was the latter; the band are known for doing just that kind of thing. Stylistically, their debut was all over the place, but everything worked really well. Who knows where Visionary, a song which puts emphasis on bass and drums yet manages to show its dreamlike, almost ethereal side at the same time, and still find room to pack in a powerful chorus, will fit in? There’s no point guessing at this early stage, that’s for sure; no doubt it’ll work even better in album context. Welcome back.

Pandr Eyez - Eyes On You

It only took me one listen to fall in love with the transatlantic duo, Pandr Eyez (facebook/twitter) – but now the fine folks at Cascine are putting out their debut EP in a couple of weeks.

Little Bit and Bird Song are on the EP and are still as beautiful as when I first heard them. But they are joined with the more paired back and spacious Shinin’, and the slow and brooding Eyes On You. They’ve also softened and slowed Leave Me Here for the Falling Mix allowing you to truly lose yourself in the shimmering synth and soulful vocals.

Pandr Eyez – Eyes On You will be released digitally on 25th October

Amusement

It’s been a few months since we heard anything from Croydon’s Amusement (facebook/twitter) – and whilst part of the downtime was due to a methylated spirits accident (who the hell plays with that these days?!), the duo have been back laying down some new tracks and getting a live show prepared. Good news.

On the new material front Run Through The Door maintains their soft, distant groove – an electronic lullaby that transports you to their dream-world. They’ve also been getting busy on the remix work – playing around with Liverpool’s Outfit, taking their luscious, soulful vocals and wrapping them in that spacious electronic soundscape.

Catch them live at the Binnacle micro-festival at Old Blue Last this weekend.
