It was only last week that I wrote of how much I was enjoying the latest art-pop EP from Free Swim (twitter), and today we’ve got a little deeper insight into the bizarre goings on in the mind of Paul Coltofeanu with the premiere of the video for The Smell Of Pregnancy.

I described the song as having a rather Zappa-esque groove, a description I stand by with its odd rhythms and slap bass, but the video is a mixture of an ode to that mass-produced 90s after-dinner ice-cream favourite Viennetta, with pop culture references from Hornblower, The Transporter, and a dude playing guitar in a panda suit.

Every year we give ourselves resolutions for the new year – be more productive, get fit, see more live music, spend longer appreciating full albums, etc… Well today we’re giving away an iPod Shuffle to help you make good on two of those promises – fill it up with a few albums and get running. Not bad eh?

To enter, all you have to do is:
1) Be from the UK (sorry rest of the world)
2) Head on over to our Facebook page, like it and comment with your musical resolution for 2012. And if you want a second entry then get on over and follow us on Twitter and tell us there!

I’ll pick the winners at midday on 20/01/2011 (next Friday).

Now I’ve publicly stated all this, it should probably push me to actually fulfilling more of it. We’ll see…

And here’s Bombay Bicycle Club’s Shuffle for good measure:
