MP3: Dylan LeBlanc – If Time Was For Wasting

Rough Trade Records have an outstanding reputation as pioneers in the discovery of new music, and for good reason. They have a keen and genuine eye for upcoming talent, and Dylan LeBlanc’s beautiful album debut ‘Paupers Field’ is no exception. The 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Louisiana, USA weaves powerful images of heartbreak with some of the most sensational sonic backdrops to have graced my ears so far in 2010. This is music for the soul, and indeed music that is very much deserving of your time and attention.

We featured The Mariner’s Children as a Band To Watch last week, and because I’m finding myself rather obsessed with them at present, I wanted to share a video from the Willkommen Collective’s Foxtrot event last Sunday. Here is ‘Coal’, my favourite Mariner’s track, recorded by the wonderful SeeGigFilmGigPost YouTube channel.

Johnny Flynn will release new single ‘The Water’ on November 1st through Transgressive Records. The third single from his critically acclaimed second album ‘Been Listening’ features guest star Laura Marling, and has proven to be a favourite from the new album. We certainly love it here at The Blue Walrus!

Below you can hear a live fan-recorded excerpt of the twosome performing the track in Australia last month.
