The best finds seem to be the ones you just stumble upon accidentally.

Santiago, the forthcoming single release from Norwich based Indie pop band The Kabeedies, is pretty damn good.
Being from the fine city I saw the band’s interpretation of catchy alternative pop years ago and I am genuinely impressed by this most recent effort.
The track has a summery feel that should not be allowed to go unnoticed; the band’s use of brass really adds something unique to their original happy-go-lucky pop roots and the mixed gender lead vocals (which is ever so trendy now) still sounds pretty distinctive. This track is far more subtle than their previous work; a perhaps less abrasive and echoing sound, without the quality of the music being lost behind the vocals and lyrics, something that tends to happen with this genre of music.

Rumpus the band’s debut album release fell easily into ‘Artrockers 20 Albums of 2009′, a clear choice with music inspired by “The Cheek, Charity Shops, Talking Heads, Call of Duty 4, Velvet Underground…”.
The band is still flying high from their track Come On and its selection for the Xbox 360 Kinect adverts. It’s a catchy one.

The best thing about this little musical gem is that it’s free! It is to be released officially on the 11th April but has been free to download for eager fans for a while. Catch it while you can. Stream Santiago below or download it here

There’s always a place in my record collection for some jumpy, spikey 80s-influenced new wave pop, and right now that space is being filled rather energetically with Danimal Kingdom. Daniel Murtha to his friends, has tasted critical success before with Bolt Action Five, which he fronted, and with Kissy Sellout, which he gave his vocal talents for their album Youth, but now he’s stepping out alone with his debut single Vinyl Skipping Ever Backward / Through The Ice out on white vinyl on the increasingly impressive Hot Pockets next Monday.

It’s simple, catchy, punky pop to help you fight your way through the rain clouds into summer.

Justice - CivilizationThe glowing cross is back. Back in a big big way.

Their new single Civilization was released today after premiering on an Adidas advert, and has them stepping a little away from their heavier sounds on † (Cross) and more towards a Daft Punk slower vocoded electropop. A little less drive, but just as much disco-swagger. We’ve got a stream of the official release below. Buy it.

There are a couple of other tracks floating about that purport to be other tracks from the new Justice album, but I’m not convinced…
