I have an exam in 12 hours but Breakbot just makes everything OK with “Baby I’m Yours”, which now tops my favourite songs of the summer and comes with a just stunning video.

Mr Ed Banger himself, Busy P says “I’m so proud of this video, not only because it’s our summer hit and because it’s a love song, it just made me cry, really. It took 4 months, it is composed of approx 2000 images watercolor painted one after another (we say Aquarelle in french) It was handmade by the lovely Irina Dakeva”

Fiction are a four-piece from London that produce bass heavy songs that are thumping and almost hypnotic. Simple and engaging song structures are used to great effect and you can hear influences from Yeasayer to Talking Heads – not a bad caomparison to have.

Once you first hear these boys you can’t help but turn it up and stick it on repeat.

Bands to watch: Gypsy and The Cat

I’ve had my eye on Gypsy and The Cat for a little while now after the were featured on the last Kitsuné Maison release, but had neglected to write them up on here until prompted by Young & Lost sending over the amazing Crystal Fighters remix I’ve posted below. STEEP remix (oops – sorry about the mixup).

They produce some of the catchiest sunglazed synth-pop around. Yes comparisons with Empire of the Sun are obvious, but Gypsy & The Cat are more than that, they offer more depth and variation and don’t have that ridiculous get up and space theme.

The Australian duo layer their sound with acoustic and live instruments alongside the programmable electronics producing what The Guardian says they describe as “semi-acoustic chillwave”. Whatever you describe them as, this is infectious, blissful pop to laze through those summer afternoons.

Gypsy & the Cat will release their debut single ‘Time to Wander’ through Young and Lost on 21^stJune, but you can pre-order it now.
