Man/Miracle (MySpace/Twitter) have been around for a little while now, putting out their debut full length last year The Shape of Things, but they are starting to generate some buzz and for good reason – you can’t help but want to dance or sing-along.

They offer a slightly chaotic or ramshackle sound that keeps my love in DIY recordings as it brings their energy to the forefront. And according to our friends at SFCritic that energy can become magical in some live moments.

The rhythms can be hypnotic, the guitars folksy and the drive bluesy when it all comes together in one thumping package. The consistency isn’t there yet, but we should be expecting big things from these boys from San Francisco, because when it works, it’ll make a dancer out of even the most disinterested and cool indie kid.

When a hand scribbled CDR of great demo tracks with a personal note drops in the post, which is how I came across Takeda – I’m reminded how much I love doing this.

Takeda are a three-piece of self confessed hermits from a little town just outside Norwich and make downbeat folk that envelops the soul the tugs on the heart. Simple and clean guitar, droned organ notes, loose and underproduced drums, and a soft and emotionally charged vocals that are just perfect as I sit here with the wind and rain battering the windows.

Takeda’s debut EP, entitled ‘Hufsa’, will be released on September 6th through our very own Lauren’s Dustbowl Records.

Alcopop! are making a name for themselves by putting out just fantastic indie-pop, and here we have the latest foursome from that stable in Elephants.

Rampaging their way from Folkestone, Elephants pen indie-pop rock the way it should be with foot tap rhythms, and choruses that stick in your head. Their songs are rammed full of energy with jerky guitars and enagaging, passionate vocals that tug on the heartstrings.

They’ve got an EP coming in October, but you can pre-order a limited 100 copy single of “Strong Arms” now before its release next week.
