I was hoping that I wouldn’t have write anything about this happening to me, as I am trying to promote the artists I love, by posting tracks by new bands either without label representation or new to a label to get the word out or rare remixes and other tracks which you can’t buy but I still love by more major artists.
Anyway, my file host was recently forced to remove my account on the request of the IFPI and I have voluntarily removed the zipped remixes for the time being until I hear a bit more about which were the offending files. I am going to have to obtain written permission from the bands/artists before posting any more tracks. That means that my planned post of Soulwax remixes and Hot Chip remixes II will be delayed/cancelled depending on theviews of the bands’/artists’ management.
I will still be posting new music, so don’t worry about that, but this might take a few days to sort out.
I will be keeping you all posted on what happens.
-Tim

Hi Tim, Tim from the Contrast Podcast here. I just noticed you posting on the elbo.ws forum and that you were from the UK. I always like to say hi to UK mp3 bloggers! Perhaps you’d like to take part in the podcast one day? ATB, Tim

That’s a shame. I just stumbled upon the Hot Chip post, and you clearly put a lot of work into it. Hopefully this will get resolved…and one day, the industry will realize that what we do benefits them. Keep up the good work!

Good luck sorting all this out. I’ve had to deal with such things before too, and I know it’s a bit of a pain.
